Liner Notes from the AlbumThe record you are listening to was recorded in my living room. We wanted to give this record a relaxed easy going feel. The main objective was not to make a big deal out of the music, just four guys sitting around and playing music because that’s what we love to do. It was a lot of fun, and we worked with surprising speed. All the tracks were recorded in a day and a half. I would like to thank my good friend Jose Luis Garces Lopez for his ten years of friendship and for introducing me to Octavio Vinck. Octavio is one of the best guitar players I have ever worked with and his help was immeasurable in putting this album together. Everyone involved in this project put their best foot forward and I think it shows. It has been over eleven years since I put out an album, so I was nervous about how this one would come out. The songs were written over the same period. Some, I have been working on for years, like “Paco & Juan” and “FDR,” which were written in Mallorca, Spain in the mid-nineties, and others were written more recently like "More than Yesterday" and "I'm on Fire." The oldest song is “Bobby,” which was written sometime in ’92 or ’93 in New York. It's about a friend of mine from high school who killed himself when he was seventeen. It took me eleven years to get this record together and three days to record it. “Rock ‘n’ Roll Shoes,” is a co-write with Neil Grossman. Neil is a friend of my family's in New York. He is a poet and someone who has shouldered life's cruel blows with nothing but a positive attitude. He is confined to a wheel chair and has such debilitating physical problems that it is difficult for him to speak or move. Spend ten minutes with him and you will not notice it. He has the strongest spirit of anyone I know; you can hear it in the song. Honorable mentions go to my neighbors for giving me their permission to do this. They are: Rolf Heydel, Veronica Lebrun, Ignacio Duque and his wife, Maria Luisa and their two kids, Ana and Pablo. Veronica’s response was the best: “You do what you have to do.” Good vibes were supplied by Shermin Voshmgir, it is always nice to have a beautiful, intelligent girl around. Special thanks to all my fans worldwide for their continued support and encouragement and to my son, Noah Vincent Collins, who makes his singing debut on“Rock ‘n’ Roll Shoes” — you can hear him on the “Yeahs.” You got the beat, you got the heat, you got the rhythm and blues. It’s an electric guitar, with a fifty amp fuse, straight from the heart, with nothing to lose, and man you swing cause your the king, in your rock ‘n’ roll shoes. In the words of my good friend Steven Huff, “Keep on Rocking!” This record is dedicated to all the people who don’t give up, no matter what they do.
